EBL ®

EBL aims to extend digital lending capabilities, enable greater availability of books to greater number of students and deliver real cost savings and convenience to libraries and book publishers. Rather than trying to create a model that will satisfy all libraries, EBL focuses on the specific needs of academic and research-based libraries. To ensure that EBL meets the demands of these libraries, eBooks Corporation has drawn on extensive experience in print and digital publishing and on feedback from respected members of the library, publishing and technology communities.

Although EBL offers content across all subject areas, the initial focus is on recent titles – most specifically in the areas of Science, Technology and Medicine (STM). EBL features content from publishers worldwide, including the largest offering of Australian ebooks available. EBL offers three different access models, the most common of which is Non-Linear Lending™. Non-Linear Lending™ provides multiple-concurrent access to ebooks according to library settings. Optional models include a Text Book Lending model and Unlimited Access model, for reference materials and content with specific circulation requirements. Each model can be purchased directly through the GOBI interface.

GOBI users can search the database for EBL titles; utilize the power of automated notification plans, collection development services and enhanced bibliographic data to assist in building an ebook collection hosted on the EBL platform. Users can also preview the entire book through the EBL link in GOBI.
