Core 300 (UK)

To complement the US Core Titles, bibliographers in the UK are pleased to make available UK CORE TITLES, which is designed to help academic libraries in the ongoing development of their collections, specifically as an aid in identifying the best British titles of the previous quarter or year.

The UK Core list is produced via the same methods used when creating the list of titles profiled in the U.S., involving UK subject-specialist bibliographers to select these titles from the new academic titles published in the UK. Each quarter, with book-in-hand, bibliographers in the UK will select 75 titles, which they consider to be core for academic library collections. The selection will be made from the complete UK publishing base and will cover all subjects. The four quarterly lists will be combined in January and form the UK Core list for the previous year, and will be posted here as soon as possible (usually February).

All of the titles on the UK Core list are available from our UK office. If you do not currently use our services, please contact your customer service bibliographer-liaison to make the necessary arrangements to set up an account. If you prefer not to have a separate UK account, YBP can provide coverage for titles that are distributed in North America or they can import the titles from our UK office.
