Every four months, YBP releases a segment of the Core list that will include up to 250 titles. The Profiling Bibliographers at YBP select these titles for inclusion on the list based on exceptional candidates from titles profiled in YBP’s approval program during the previous three months. The four quarterly lists of titles will be combined into one cumulative list to be released in February each year, forming the completed Core list for the previous year.
The U.K. Core list is produced using the same methods as the U.S. Core titles, involving profiling bibliographers in the U.K. selecting the best titles from recently-profiled academic titles published in the U.K. The four quarterly lists of up to 75 titles each will be combined in February to comprise the U.K. Core Titles for the previous year.
The YBP Lists, Reviews, or Awards Program would be an efficient and automatic way for academic libraries to acquire award-winning books, including each years’ Core titles. The Lists program includes coverage of all of the U.S. and U.K. Core titles, updated quarterly and separated by topic; thus it can be used to bring in highly-qualified titles in selected, customized subject areas. The Children's Awards and Adult Awards program are automatic acquisitions programs for libraries developing a core collection of award winning children's and adult books. The Key Reviews Program provides review titles as automatic book shipments or title notifications for titles reviewed in common academic review sources.
