John Robert Fowles (1926-2005)

British novelist and essayist, John Fowles, passed away November 5, 2005 at his home in Lyme Regis, England. Fowles was perhaps best known for his fictional work, The French Lieutenant's Woman, in which the reader is given the option of two different endings. Several of his books were made into movies, with varying success. He has been described as the forefather of British postmodernism.
