Honors for a Distinguished Career

Kent Mulliner, Assistant Dean for Collection Development for the University Libraries at Ohio University, has been chosen to receive the annual Leadership in Library Acquisitions Award from the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS). This award is given in recognition of contributions and outstanding leadership in the field of library acquisitions.

Kent has been a central figure in the leadership of the OhioLINK Consortium, serving on numerous committees and chairing both the Cooperative Information Resources Management (CIRM) committee and the Collection Building Task Force (CBTF). Kent received his M.L.S. from Kent State University and has served in the Ohio University library for over twenty years. Prior to Ohio University, he taught in the State University of New York system and served in the United States Foreign Service in Hong Kong and Malaysia. Kent has also lectured on political science with a focus 19th century South East Asian History and also Information Policy in South East Asia, edited 'Papers in International Studies,' and published volumes of papers on topics ranging from population in Southeast Asia to e-commerce and collection development.

YBP has had the privilege of working with Kent over the past decade. He is a dedicated and generous professional who has worked tirelessly to build a premier collection of resources for the benefit of the academic community in Ohio. In the process has contributed to the development of resources that support the library community at large. Kent has often been invested with the task of presenting OhioLINK needs and perspectives to YBP, and in this role has been an invaluable resource and colleague to our organization. We heartily congratulate him on this well deserved award.
