Professor Malinowsky

H. Robert Malinowsky, editor of E-STREAMS, has been honored by the Special Libraries Association (SLA) with induction to the SLA Hall of Fame. This award was announced by SLA President Bill Fisher at the Winter Meeting in New Orleans, and will be officially granted at the annual conference in June. The award of "SLA Hall of Fame is granted to members of the association at or near the end of an active professional career for an extended and sustained period of distinguished service to the association in all spheres."

Presently Professor Malinowsky is manager of Collections Development & Reference at the University of Illinois at Chicago, with collection responsibilities for engineering, science, mathematics, computer science, general reference and electronic journals. He has been president of the SLA, is a designated fellow of the SLA and is a life member of Tau Beta Pi, an honorary engineering fraternity.

Professor Malinowsy has been granted many prestigious awards including the Louis Shores-Oryx Press award for excellence in the reviewing of books and other materials for libraries from the Reference and Adult Services Division of the American Library Association. During his distinguished career he has taught at the University of Kansas, the University of Denver, Emporia State University, and the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.

During his extensive publishing career, Professor Malinowsky has also reviewed books for American Reference Books Annual, and is a reviewer for Reference Books Bulletin as well as E-STREAMS. He has published numerous reference works including Reference Sources in Science, Engineering, Medicine, and Agriculture (Oryx Press, 1994).

E-STREAMS: Electronic Reviews of Science and Technology References, covering Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine and Science is a collaborative venture between H. Robert Malinowsky, University of Illinois at Chicago, and YBP Library Services. The electronic journal is edited by H. Robert Malinowsky and published by YBP Library Services. Each issue contains 30+ STM (Science Technology Medicine) reviews, covering new titles in Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine and Science. Each review is signed, and includes the e-mail address of the reviewer. The reviews feature short Table of Contents, a list of contributors and bibliographic information. Reviews are written by librarians or professors who have expertise in the areas they are reviewing
