Collection Development - Useful Lists and Reports

The beginning of a New Year is always a good time to review available resources and tools to assist with making your book selections and acquisitions. As you continue or begin this process, here are a few free resources that can help.

Each fall YBP updates a report on price and output for new books published during our prior fiscal year. The data encompasses all new titles treated on the profiled subject programs from YBP and YBP UK. YBP's Profiled programs are expressly designed to serve academic libraries; our data, which we have consistently reported for the last 15 years, is a useful index to English-language publishing trends for scholarly, professional and scientific books. YBP New Title Reports reflect a complete set of data for all profiled books we treat in a fiscal year, displayed in a variety of academic subjects. New Title Reports can be found on the YBP website where we present our profiling history data in multiple ways:

• By subject using the Library of Congress, Dewey and National Library of Medicine classification systems.
• By publisher.
• By non-subject paramaters which include categories like format, interdisciplinary descriptors such as "Women's Studies" and geographical descriptors.

A quarterly newsletter tailored towards medical subjects. View the YBP/Majors Report to review an essential resource for Brandon/Hill Updates; Nicki's Picks; publisher promotions; new titles in medicine, nursing and allied health; as well as reviews of the latest consumer health titles.
