New YBP Eastern Canada Collection Development
Manager: Heather Berringer
It gives us great pleasure to announce that Heather
(Matheson) Berringer has joined YBP as Collection Development
Manager for Eastern Canada. Heather began with YBP in
October and some of you may already have met her as she
has been traveling with Michael Zeoli, Director of Sales
in Canada.
Heather possesses a strong background in an academic
librarianship. Prior to joining YBP she served as
Reference Librarian at Carleton University’s MacOdrum Library.
As a student, she also held library positions at Dalhousie
University’s Killam Library in Halifax, Nova Scotia, York
University in Toronto, and Acadia University in Wolfville,
Nova Scotia.
Heather, who is bilingual in English and French, earned her
Masters in Library Information Science from Dalhousie
University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French
with a minor in Classics from Acadia University. She is
very active in the Canadian library community and Chairs
the Re:Generations Committee of the Canadian Association of
College and University Libraries. She is also active in
CLA’s Emerging Technologies Interest Group and convenes the
APLA Continuing Education Interest Group. Heather has also
written numerous papers and given presentations,
particularly related to technology and communication.
Earlier this year she was awarded the Carleton University
Professional Achievement Award.
Heather will be based in Ottawa, Ontario, and will report
to Michael Zeoli. Please join us in welcoming Heather to
YBP and extending her all the best wishes for success.
