Out-of-Print / Out-of-Stock Indefinitely

A leading supplier of academic books, YBP Library Services has built a reputation on outstanding customer service. In keeping with that reputation, YBP has expanded its customer service offerings to include Out-of-Print/Out-of-Stock Indefinitely (OP/OSI) services.

Our partnerships with third-party vendors such as Alibris give our clients seamless access to an inventory of millions of out-of-print titles.

The addition of this service makes YBP your total solution for title fulfillment. Eliminating the need to start a new order cycle with another vendor when your title comes up "out-of-print," YBP can save you both time and effort. Sign up for OP/OSI substitutions with your customer service representative, and YBP will automatically place an order with our out-of-print vendor if a title you order is out-of-print. These orders will stay with the OP vendor for the duration of the library's cancellation period. There's no interruption to the order cycle, and no additional work for you.

YBP's OP/OSI Service helps you streamline your acquisition process.

The old way:
  • Place an order

  • Wait for cancellation

  • Search the Web for OP dealers that may have the book

  • Place an order with that dealer

  • Prepay the OP dealer

  • Process receipt of a single book shipment

Now, it's simple!
  • Subscribe to YBP's OP/OSI program and automatically receive and pay for OP/OSI titles along with all your other YBP orders!

Out-of-Print/Out-of-Stock Indefinitely--Condition Standards

With YBP's OP/OSI Service, you will only receive titles that are in either "Fine" (F) or "Very Good" (VG) condition, according to the following criteria:

  • Fine (F): No defects, little usage. Older books may show minor flaws.

  • Very Good (VG): Attractive, but shows some signs of wear and is no longer fresh.

Former library books, and books described in "Good" (G) or worse condition, are unacceptable and will not be supplied.

  • Good (G): The average used book with all pages present. Books with loose bindings, highlighting, cocked spine, or torn dust jackets can fall into this category.

  • Fair (FR): Obviously well worn and handled, but without missing text pages; it may, however, be without endpapers or a title page. There may be markings, but they do not interfere with readability.

  • Poor (P): All text is legible but book may be soiled and have binding defects. Reading copies and binding copies fall into this category.
