Notification Slip Plans

YBP Profiled Slip Plans allow libraries throughout the world to enjoy the advantages of a YBP Approval Plan without receiving automatic book shipments. YBP's customized slip service offers bibliographic information that is accurate, timely and pertinent, and allows libraries to precisely manage the selection of new titles on a firm order basis.

Each year, YBP bibliographers carefully examine and describe more then 88,000 newly published titles, and match them daily against the targeted slip profiles of individual libraries. Slips are issued for libraries each week and may be viewed, sorted, selected, and ordered via GOBI, YBP's online bibliographic database.

In addition to all standard bibliographic elements, slips include

  • Library of Congress or MeSH subject headings

  • Library of Congress, Dewey, and National Library of Medicine classifications

  • List and net price

  • Author affiliation

  • Notes created by YBP bibliographers

  • Slips may be further customized to include fund codes or other library-assigned identifiers.

    Customized to Meet Your Needs
YBP's Profiled Slip Plans are tailored to meet each library's specific needs. And because they're based on classification schemes that librarians use and understand, the resulting slip profile can be easily understood without learning a vendor's terminology. Subject coverage can be modified through the use of interdisciplinary aspects and descriptors; geographic specifications; and non-subject parameters. Coverage may be applied across the range of scholarly, professional, and trade publishers treated by YBP, or libraries may choose to have coverage drawn from a customized list of publishers.

Dedicated customer service representatives are available to answer questions, solve problems, and make adjustments to profiles. YBP also offers a variety of reports--online via GOBI or by request from your customer service representative--to help librarians analyze the effectiveness of their Profiled Slip Plan.

This service is available free of charge. Both YBP's U.S. and U.K. offices offer Profiled Slip Plans, and libraries may establish coverage with either office or with both. Through our U.K. division, YBP can deliver either U.S. or U.K. editions, according to each library's requirements. For example, if a U.K. edition is published before the U.S. edition, libraries can request that U.K. version, and YBP can quickly deliver.

YBP also offers competitive discounts to libraries based on overall level of business.
