Technical Services
YBP and Lindsay and Croft offer a range of bibliographic, processing and cataloging services. Hundreds of libraries have already taken advantage of these services, and that number is increasing steadily. Libraries can contract with YBP or Lindsay and Croft for a range of services for bibliographic and cataloging records, binding, and physical processing.
Ordering Support and Electronic Ordering
YBP and Lindsay and Croftrecognize that libraries have different needs, preferences and ordering procedures. That's why we offer tools that enable libraries to submit their orders in a variety of formats, from paper forms and email, to GOBI and local library systems. Whatever the local situation, support is available.
Shipping Records
YBP and Lindsay and Croft generate shipping records at the time materials are shipped, in the form of brief MARC formatted bibliographic records. These records can be enhanced with invoice information and other local data, customizing them to individual libraries' needs. Shipping records load to automated library systems to support receipt processing and, on certain systems, electronic invoicing. Shipping records are available for accounts that do not receive cataloging support.
Cataloging Support
YBP offers two options for cataloging support for materials purchased from YBP: the YBP Cataloging Service, or OCLC's PromptCat service. For materials purchased from Lindsay and Croft, cataloging support is provided through PromptCat. The local data available for output in shipping records can also be supplied in YBP Cataloging Service and PromptCat records. Physical processing services may be combined with cataloging support from either source.
Electronic Invoicing
Both YBP and Lindsay and Croftsupport the electronic invoicing formats of individual library system vendors.
Physical Processing
Libraries turn to YBP for the customized processing services to meet their needs. We have clients who receive the full range of services including shelf-ready books, and others who contract only for a subset-for example, binding, the application of ownership stamps and barcodes, or the supply and insertion of security devices.
